Evelyn - singer

PIANIST:
Evelyn Chang


Pianist; London Royal College of Music
Evelyn Chang made her London debut in 2004 at the South Bank Centre, the success and exciting reviews brought her a string of interesting and challenging projects working with outstanding international artsits and composers.
 
She moved to London at the age of 13 and began to explore her long musical journey in the west. Evelyn studied at the British's best institutions; The Purcell School & Royal College of Music. Throughout the years Evelyn performed both solo and chamber music mainly in the UK, Europe and Taiwan. She is actively involved in promoting new music, some of which are especialy dedicated to her. She appeared on BBC Live Music Now, BBC Radio 3, Hong Kong Radio 4 and Taipei Classical Radio as well as some european channels. Her recording works include an award winning album with violist Maxim Rysanov released by Avie Records.The album received critical acclaims and was picked as editor’s choice in Gramophone, BBC Music and Musik magazines. She also made several improvisation recordings with jazz saxophonist Paul Dunmall and others on FMR Records, and a recital album with clarinetist Cristo Barrios on RAL Records.

Recently Evelyn was granted HK government’s Quality Migrant Visa which enables her to contribute more of her musical and educational work in Asia. She will be performing in Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall on 3rd July 2009 at 8pm in celebration of her debut solo album- Poets from the East.

Edmond Kwok is a Hong Kong native, who worked in the advertising industry for twenty years. After experiencing a spiritual awakening, he decided to give up his corporate job in favour of working full time as a psychic consultant. This transition from businessman to psychic consultant, from a glamorous life to a tranquil one, was filled with the inevitable highs and lows, but Edmond discovered the peace that is within him.
 
Through Tarot, Palmistry, Face Reading, and Graphology, Edmond teaches people to face life with a positive attitude: it is not simply a matter of right or wrong, it is about bringing out the power within and braving the future in the most appropriate way.

  
Joyce Wong - Soprano

SOPRANO:
Joyce Wong


Soprano; Westminster Choir College and Boston University
Joyce Wah-Sheung Wong made her professional operatic debut as Barbarina in Opera Hong Kong’s 2006 production of Le Nozze di Figaro. This performance was followed by her roles as Harry in Albert Herring at Intermezzo Young Artist Program, and as Yvette (Gigi u/s) in her equity debut in Miss Saigon at The Media Theatre, Philadelphia. In 2008’s Le French May Festival, she performed along side world-renowned Mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves in Werther as Sophie. She most recently appeared in Don Carlo as Voice From Heaven; Belle in Disney’s Beauty and The Beast; Suor Genevieffa in Suor Angelica with Miami Lyric Opera; and will appear as Pamina in Die Zaubeflöte this summer in Seoul. Next season, Joyce will sing Papagena with Paul Armin Edelmann, son of legendary singer Otto Edelman and sensational soprano Huang Ying in Opera Hong Kong’s joint production with Norwegian Opera in Die Zaubeflöte, first in Hong Kong then in Beijing’s National Center of Performing Arts. Joyce graduated from Westminster Choir College and Boston University.

Alex Tin-Lok Lam

Alex Lam


Tenor; Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
Alex completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majoring in voice under the instruction of Derek Anthony and Michael Rippon, where he had the opportunity to work with Georg Tinter and Enza Ferrari. Alex also completed the postgraduate opera course at the Roay Academy of Music in London under Joy Mammen and Audrey Hyland at the RAM where he sang in master classes with Dennis O’Neill and Robert Tear.

Alex has performed as a soloist in Bach’s Magnificat, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and The Ninth Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C minor, Handel’s Judas Maccabeaus and Messiah, Karl Orff’s Catulli Camina, Schebert’s Mass in Eb and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem. In Le French May 2000, Alex was invited to give a duo concert with French soprano Elisabeth Videl, and to be one of the soloists in ‘The Voices of Light’. He performed two contemporary pieces by the American composer David del Tredici in 2001 as an Asian premiere. In the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2002, Alex appeared in Bach’s Kaffee Kantate.

A regular fixture on Hong Kong's ball circuit, Andy Bautista's Big Band needs no introduction. He will serenade our evening with the smoothest jazz and popular music. Feel free to show us your carnevale rhythm on the dance floor at any time during our masquerade!
